[In some emergency situations], they slap unconscious cases to arouse or keep them awake.

[As well], some calamities are [like] the slaps by God.

[But], he never slaps the dead!

Mansur Seiqal said:

[Once] a group of our friends (Shiites), Harith and I were sitting in presence of Imam Ṣādiq (pbuh);

talking [quietly] about the advent of the Truth Government[Imam Mahdī (mgehr)’s]

The Imam (pbuh) heard us and stated,

‘What are you talking about?’

Alas! Alas! By God what you expect will not happen, unless you are screened [under trial].

By God what you are looking forward to, does not occur, unless you are tried.

By God what you hope does not fulfill until you are separated. (Al- Kāfī, Vol.1, P.370)

ولَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ حَتَّى نَعْلَمَ الْمُجَاهِدِينَ مِنْكُمْ وَالصَّابِرِينَ [محمد/۳۱]

And We shall try you until We test those among you who strive their utmost and persevere in patience; …. (Holy Qur`an, Surah MUHAMMAD, verse 31)
